Everyone needs a chocolate fix but it doesn’t need to be unhealthy.
Emelia hasn’t slept well since she was 4 months old so in the afternoons I generally need a pick me up in the form of “Choc-o-clock!” This is generally between the hours of 3&4 and can be accompanied by a warm beverage if required!
These flapjacks are LUSH and there’s no wheat or refined sugar in sight. They can also be dairy free too if you decide to use only coconut oil and dairy free chocolate.
150grams of Organic butter or Raw, Virgin, Organic Coconut Oil (I prefer butter!)
150grams Coconut Sugar
3tbsp Honey, Agave or Maple Syrup (maple is my favourite!)
200grams Organic Oats
50grams Green&Blacks dark chocolate (the higher the %age the better but adjust to your taste) chopped
Zest of one unwaxed, Organic Orange
Turn fan assisted oven on to 160 degrees celsius to warm up. Melt butter/coconut oil, sugar and honey/agave/maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat until all melted and incorporated.
Add oats, chocolate and zest into the melted butter and mix well. Cook for 40 minutes in a 20cm square lined cake tin. In my opinion the orange zest really make these super special!
Cut into about 10 rectangles whilst still warm-ish and enjoy!
